Ronald Galatolo sentenced to eight months jail for perjury and tax fraud

Former San Mateo County Community College District chancellor Ronald Galatolo was sentenced on July 31, 2026, at Redwood City’s Hall of Justice to eight months in county jail. A jury convicted him of eight felonies – four counts of falsifying tax documents and four counts of perjury – after a trial lasting more than 40 days. In addition to the jail term, Galatolo must serve two years of probation and complete 100 hours of community service in a Latino community, as ordered by Superior Court Judge Lelond Davis III.

The convictions stem from allegations that Galatolo failed to disclose income, gifts, and kickbacks from district contractors while overseeing the district’s three campuses from 2001 to 2019. The judge noted Galatolo’s lack of remorse and emphasized the need for honesty over mere diligence.
