Ronald Paquin, convicted ex-priest, dies in Maine prison

Ronald Paquin, a defrocked Roman Catholic priest convicted of child sex abuse, has died at the age of 83. According to a press release from the Maine Department of Corrections, Paquin passed away on a Friday afternoon at the Mountain View Correctional Facility in Charleston, Maine. No cause of death has been released.

Paquin was a figure in the sexual abuse scandal involving the Archdiocese of Boston. He previously served more than 10 years in a Massachusetts prison for the abuse of an altar boy. Following his release in 2015, he was taken into custody in Maine, where he was convicted in 2018 on counts of gross sexual misconduct involving a young boy during trips to Maine in the 1980s. He was serving a 16-year sentence at the time of his death.
