Ronaldinho joins bid to acquire AS Monaco Basket

Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho has submitted a letter of intent to acquire AS Monaco Basket, the club currently facing a severe financial crisis. Partnering with the Andorra-based investment fund Clayton Sport, Ronaldinho’s proposal aims to stabilize the team and secure its place in the French Betclic Élite league.

The financial package includes immediate measures to settle a 2.5 million euro debt owed to the Euroleague and provide a 5 million euro bank guarantee required by the DNCCG. Furthermore, the group has expressed a willingness to invest approximately 10 million euros per season over a period of three to five years.

This bid enters the fray as the club faces a deadline of August 19 to appeal its exclusion from professional championships through the CNOSF. AS Monaco is also in discussions with another potential buyer, former NBA player Jamal Mashburn and his Helen Holdings consortium, though reports suggest the Ronaldinho-Clayton Sport project may offer more robust long-term financial commitments.
