Ronaldo Fonseca named potential vice‑governor running mate by José Roberto Arruda
Former federal deputy and ex‑minister Ronaldo Fonseca held a meeting in Núcleo Bandeirante, Distrito Federal, on 22 July, gathering about 250 evangelical leaders, professionals and businessmen. During the event, pre‑candidate for the Distrito Federal governorship José Roberto Arruda took the stage and suggested Fonseca as a possible vice‑governor candidate.
Fonseca, who is preparing to contest a major office – either a Senate seat or the vice‑governorship – will decide his candidacy after talks with PSD leaders at regional and national levels. The Avante party has also expressed interest in the vice‑governor and Senate slots, while discussions with party president Gilberto Kassab and regional president Paulo Octávio are ongoing.
The suggestion reflects a broader effort to align religious and business constituencies behind the PSD ticket ahead of the upcoming convention.
