Ronaldo Caiado proposes South American police and amnesty for January 8 convicts

Ronaldo Caiado, the PSD presidential candidate, outlined several key proposals during recent media interviews. On security, he proposed creating a transnational South American police force, similar to Europol, to combat organized crime and narcotics trafficking. He also called for the Supreme Court to lift the secrecy of investigations involving the INSS and Banco Master.

Regarding justice and political stability, Caiado advocated for a broad and unrestricted amnesty for those convicted in the January 8, 2023, attacks, including former President Jair Bolsonaro, as a means to reduce political polarization. He also suggested that the impeachment of Supreme Court ministers could serve as a remedy for undemocratic conduct.

On economic policy, Caiado proposed a constitutional amendment to limit federal spending growth to inflation plus 50% of GDP growth. He expressed a desire to review tax reforms and administrative structures to reduce costs across all branches of government. While he expressed support for ending the 6x1 work schedule, he noted the need to evaluate its impact on micro and small businesses. Additionally, he stated he would not alter Social Security rules involving acquired rights and intends to prohibit automatic grade advancement in educational institutions.
