Ronaldo Caiado launches 2026 presidential bid with PSD

Ronaldo Caiado, the PSD presidential candidate for 2026, has officially launched his campaign with Gilberto Kassab as his running mate. During his campaign tour in São Paulo, Caiado has made several key policy shifts and announcements.

Notably, Caiado reversed his previous stance on the proposed constitutional amendment to end the 6x1 work schedule, declaring his support for the measure. He also outlined economic goals, including reducing interest rates to 6% and maintaining inflation between 3% and 4% through fiscal austerity. On social policy, he committed to maintaining the Bolsa Família program.

In the realm of security, Caiado proposed a new legal classification for criminal factions as 'domestic terrorism' and promised the construction of 40 maximum-security prisons. He also criticized political opponents, specifically referring to those likely to skip upcoming presidential debates as 'fujões' (runaways).

Separately, São Paulo Governor Tarcísio de Freitas has emphasized his administration's focus on infrastructure and health. He advocated for the expansion of the metropolitan rail and metro systems and the increase of specialized healthcare services for individuals with autism. Tarcísio also expressed political alignment with Senator Flávio Bolsonaro.
