Ronaldo Fraga presents cotton-themed collection at SPFW

Designer Ronaldo Fraga presented his “Cartas de Algodão” collection at São Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW) as part of the tenth anniversary of the “Sou de Algodão” initiative. Created by the Brazilian Association of Cotton Producers (Abrapa), the project aims to connect cotton cultivation with the fashion industry and promote responsible consumption.

The collection featured textures of patchwork, lace, and embroidery, utilizing cotton as a primary material. Some pieces were constructed from textile residues, using biodegradable interfacing to create textured patchwork. The designs incorporated historical silhouettes, such as Victorian-inspired collars and puffed sleeves, alongside natural earth-toned dyes.

Fraga’s presentation included political and social elements, featuring a soundtrack of songs by Taiguara, an artist whose work faced censorship during Brazil’s military regime. The designer concluded the show wearing a red cap with the name “Lula” printed on it.
