Ronaldo Lessa withdraws from Alagoas Senate slate

Ronaldo Lessa, the Vice-Governor of Alagoas, has officially withdrawn from the Senate candidacy slate of Marina Candia. Following his resignation from the position of second substitute, the PDT has nominated Jurandir Boia Rocha to fill that vacancy.

Lessa stated that a previous agreement with candidate João Henrique Caldas (JHC) was not honored. Lessa had reportedly expected to move from the second substitute position to the first substitute position on the slate, but JHC cited potential legal insecurity for Marina Candia’s candidacy as the reason for not proceeding with the swap.

The change does not affect the gubernatorial ticket, where Célia Rocha remains the candidate for Vice-Governor alongside JHC. The Senate slate is now composed of Marina Candia, with Eudócia Caldas as the first substitute and Jurandir Boia as the second.
