Ronaldo Martínez scoring streak nears Vélez purchase clause
Paraguayan striker Ronaldo Martínez is one goal away from triggering a mandatory purchase clause by Vélez Sarsfield, which would prevent his former club, Talleres, from exercising any repurchase options.
Currently on loan at Vélez, Martínez has recorded nine goals and one assist in his recent appearances. If he reaches the ten-goal threshold, Vélez is obligated to purchase 50% of the player's economic rights. While the reference amount is USD 2,350,000, the total cost is estimated to approach USD 3,000,000 once taxes, player percentages, and other deductions are included.
If the clause is activated, Talleres will lose two scheduled repurchase opportunities: one set for December 2024 and another for June 2027. Martínez has upcoming matches against San Lorenzo and Unión that could determine the finality of the transfer.
