Ronan O’Gara criticizes La Rochelle after Racing 92 defeat

La Rochelle manager Ronan O’Gara expressed deep frustration following his team's 10-20 home defeat against Racing 92 at Stade Marcel-Deflandre. Despite a strong start to the season with victories over Toulouse and Toulon, the Maritimes struggled to maintain intensity in this fixture.

O’Gara attributed the loss to a deficit in physical engagement, noting that Racing 92 won the physical challenge. He remarked, “If you win the physical challenge, you win the match. Racing won it, bravo to them. They were better than us.” He emphasized that even a 5% to 10% drop in intensity can be costly in Top 14 competition.

While the loss was disappointing, O’Gara opted not to confront his players immediately in the locker room. He stated that the team needs time to “accept the truth” and analyze their performance to determine what standards they are willing to accept moving forward.
