Roncello fatal head-on collision kills 18-year-old

A violent head-on collision in Roncello, a hamlet of Vimercate in the Monza and Brianza province, resulted in the death of an 18-year-old woman. The accident occurred shortly after midnight on Via Aldo Moro.

The victim, Carola Battaglia, a resident of Busnago, was traveling in a Fiat 500 accompanied by a 16-year-old boy. The vehicle collided head-on with an Audi. While the 18-year-old succumbed to her injuries, the 16-year-old was airlifted to Niguarda Hospital in Milan in critical condition.

The driver of the Audi, a 40-year-old man, was transported to San Gerardo Hospital in Monza with yellow-code injuries. Reports indicate a passenger in the Audi fled the scene on foot immediately following the crash. Carabinieri are currently investigating the cause of the collision, including the possibility of an unsafe overtaking maneuver.
