Ronciglione to host historical walking tours and tastings
Ronciglione will host a series of free historical walking tours and tastings titled ‘Stories of Men, Iron, and Paper Mills’ on August 16 and 17. The event is part of the ‘Borghi, Castelli e Parchi dei Cimini’ project, which aims to explore regional traditions through guided storytelling.
Funded by the Lazio Region, the initiative is promoted by the Comunità Montana dei Cimini in collaboration with the cultural association ‘Il Fascino del Passato’. The tours, directed by Marco Rossi of the University of Tuscia, will guide participants through the historic center, including the Chiesa della Provvidenza, the Rocca dei Prefetti di Vico, and the Duomo dei Santi Pietro e Caterina.
The program focuses on the town's industrial and artisanal history, specifically the role of water in powering ironworks and paper mills. Participants will learn about ancient crafts and the historical urban development influenced by the Di Vico, Farnese, and della Rovere families. The walks will conclude with tasting sessions to encourage community interaction.
