Spanish municipalities launch diverse community and educational programs

Various Spanish municipalities are launching diverse community programs and educational initiatives for the 2026/2027 academic year.

In Durango, the Active Aging Program offers 575 spots for seniors, including digital training and psychosocial workshops. In San Fernando, the school year begins with 6,311 students following significant infrastructure investments. Coslada has also invested 1.6 million euros in school renovations, though local officials have raised concerns regarding unfilled teaching positions.

Youth and family services are also expanding. Bilbao is reopening its Gaztegunes centers with programs focused on robotics and leisure for adolescents. Palma is increasing its neighborhood center capacity to over 4,600 spots, while Ourense is launching new extracurricular activities for children. Other local initiatives include mobility awareness weeks in Carbajosa, specialized workshops in Puerto Lumbreras, and the development of a municipal youth plan in Gestalgar.
