Rondônia aviation connectivity expands through new routes and infrastructure plans

Aviation connectivity in Rondônia is expanding through both new commercial operations and proposed government infrastructure plans. GOL Linhas Aéreas has launched a new route connecting Porto Velho to Rio Branco with Saturday flights. Additionally, Azul Linhas Aéreas has increased its service between Porto Velho and Cuiabá to three weekly frequencies and initiated cargo operations to Campinas.

In tandem with these commercial shifts, Senator Marcos Rogério has proposed a government plan to integrate Rondônia's interior cities—including Ji-Paraná, Cacoal, Vilhena, and Ariquemes—to major national centers. The proposal includes upgrading airport runways and security to allow for nighttime and instrument operations, as well as a phased reduction of the ICMS tax on aviation kerosene to incentivize new routes. The plan also suggests the concession of regional airports to modernize terminals and improve passenger services.
