Rondônia Court sentences 15 in Operação Súcia
The Court of Justice of the State of Rondônia (TJRO) has sentenced 15 defendants following an appeal by the Public Ministry of Rondônia (MPRO) regarding ‘Operação Súcia’. The sentences include prison terms of up to 12 years, 6 months, and 8 days in an initial closed regime, along with significant fines.
The court recognized that the 15 defendants were part of an armed criminal organization. Among those convicted, ten will serve their sentences in a closed regime, while five will begin in a semi-open regime. Additional charges included association for drug trafficking and drug trafficking.
This ruling follows a previous decision in March 2024 that had acquitted 18 accused individuals due to the alleged nullity of digital evidence. However, the 2nd Criminal Chamber of TJRO unanimously accepted the MPRO's appeal, ordering a new trial which resulted in the current convictions. The court also ordered the destruction of seized narcotics and firearms.
