Brazil Budget Committee approves R$ 115 million for Venezuelan migration in Roraima

The Mixed Budget Committee (CMO) has approved a special credit of R$ 115 million for the 2026 budget to address the increased influx of Venezuelan migrants in Roraima. The funds are intended to support health, education, and public security services in the state to compensate for extraordinary expenses caused by the migration flow.

The credit, identified as PLN 27/2026, will be distributed among three ministries: 60% to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, 31.3% to the Ministry of Health, and 8.7% to the Ministry of Education. The proposal, reported by Senator Eduardo Braga, now moves to the National Congress Plenary for further analysis.

In a separate budgetary matter, the committee also debated PLN 23/26, which proposes a R$ 185.5 billion supplementary credit for social and pension benefits. The vote on this proposal was postponed to next week due to concerns regarding the golden rule, a constitutional limit on government debt relative to investment and debt repayment.
