Rondônia police investigate two suspected executions

Two separate homicide investigations have been launched in the state of Rondônia, Brazil, following the discovery of bodies under suspicious circumstances.

In Rio Branco, the body of 25-year-old José Lucas Campos do Nascimento was found in a wooded area in the Albert Sampaio neighborhood. The victim was in an advanced state of decomposition. Local residents reported hearing gunshots, and authorities are investigating the case as a suspected execution. The victim had a history of theft and a previous injury attributed to a criminal faction.

In a rural area between Pimenta Bueno and Espigão do Oeste, an unidentified man was found dead near the Itaporanga district. The victim’s hands were tied behind his back, leading investigators to suspect an execution. This marks the second incident with similar characteristics in that specific rural area within a short timeframe. The Civil Police are investigating a potential link between these two recent deaths.
