Rota Agro Central concession approved for Mato Grosso and Rondônia
The Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) has unanimously approved the continuation of the Rota Agro Central concession. This infrastructure project covers 887.6 km of highways BR-070, BR-174, and BR-364 across the states of Mato Grosso and Rondônia. The project involves planned investments totaling R$ 5.995 billion over a 30-year period.
The government aims to hold the auction on December 10, 2026, pending the publication of the official notice and adjustments required by the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT). The route is strategically designed to connect agricultural production areas in Mato Grosso to port terminals in Rondônia and the Madeira River waterway, facilitating the export of soy and corn.
Additionally, a proposal is being discussed to establish a road connection between Mato Grosso and San Ignacio de Velasco in Bolivia. This corridor aims to create a shorter route for Brazilian grain production to reach Pacific ports, such as Chancay in Peru, potentially facilitating the export of over 50 million tons of grains.
