Rondonópolis faces wildfire risks despite recent rainfall

Despite the return of rains in September, Rondonópolis continues to experience wildfires in various urban and rural areas. Recent fires were recorded near the Vermelho River by the Marechal Rondon Avenue bridge and in a residential area near Sítio Farias, where native Cerrado vegetation was consumed.

Local authorities, including the Municipal Secretariat of Environment and the Fire Department, have been deploying water trucks to combat these outbreaks. Officials warn that extremely dry vegetation and high temperatures make the region highly susceptible to fires caused by items such as cigarettes or glass fragments. Residents are urged to remain vigilant regarding land cleaning and proper waste disposal to prevent further incidents, which pose respiratory risks to children and the elderly.
