Rondonópolis hosts free Week of the Horse and Rodeo Festival with prize pool

The municipality of Rondonópolis announced that the free Week of the Horse and É o Bicho Rodeo Festival will run from June 3 to June 6 at the Wilmar Peres de Farias Exhibition Park. The program includes daily musical performances by Resenha da Muierada, Jero Neto, the duo Léo & Raphael, singer Loubet and band Novo Som, as well as rodeo competitions with five teams battling for cash prizes – R$44,000 for the champion, R$4,000 for second place and R$2,000 for third, plus individual awards and a 0‑km motorcycle for the best bull. All proceeds from food collection during the four‑day event will be donated to local charitable institutions.

In a separate municipal act, Mayor Cláudio Ferreira declared three days of official mourning for the death of former councilman and businessman Mohamed Khalil Zaher, whose flags will be flown at half‑mast in public buildings.

The festival and the mourning period reflect the city’s cultural calendar and its recognition of local public figures.
