Rondonópolis Police Arrest Two Men in Second Phase of Operation Contenção

On July 8, the Civil Police of Rondonópolis launched the second phase of Operation Contenção to advance investigations into an attempted homicide recorded in April. During the execution of a search and seizure warrant in the Sagrada Família neighborhood, police arrested two 36‑year‑old men for illegal possession of firearms, seizing a loaded .38 revolver, an unmarked .32 revolver, ammunition and other weapons.

Investigators also confiscated R$10,800 in checks, R$2,000 in cash, a substance resembling marijuana, two precision scales, four mobile phones and a notebook that appears to document possible loan‑sharking activities, showing loans totaling about R$87,400 with interest rates of 10‑15%. All seized items were sent to the official forensic laboratory for analysis. The suspects were taken to the Specialized Homicide and Protection Division (DHPP) and are now in custody pending judicial proceedings.
