Rondonópolis receives international urban forestry awards

The municipality of Rondonópolis has received two significant certifications regarding sustainability and urban forestry conservation. The Brazilian Urban Forestry Society (SBAU) awarded the city the ‘Selo Cidade Amiga das Árvores’ (Tree-Friendly City Seal).

Additionally, the city earned international recognition as a ‘Tree Cities of the World’ for 2025 from the FAO/United Nations. These honors were officially received by the municipal secretary of Environment, Agriculture, and Livestock, Álvaro Fachim, during the 2nd Brazilian Tree Cities Symposium in Cubatão, São Paulo.

The certifications recognize the city's commitment to the planning and management of urban forests, aligning local environmental policies with international best practices.
