Ronnie O’Sullivan sets 18-month career deadline after Wuhan Open exit

Snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan has set an 18-month deadline to revive his career following a semi-final exit at the Wuhan Open. The 50-year-old lost 6-3 to Chang Bingyu, a defeat that highlighted ongoing struggles with his form. O’Sullivan described his recent performance issues as a “disease” in his game, stating, “If I’m honest I don’t think I will ever get over it.”

Despite his recent struggles, O’Sullivan expressed a desire to continue playing to avoid ending his career on a low note, committing to see how the next 18 months progress. He has not won a ranking tournament since January 2024.

Additionally, the World Snooker Tour confirmed that O’Sullivan has withdrawn from next week’s British Open in Cheltenham for medical reasons. He was scheduled to face Mateusz Baranowski in his opening match, but will be replaced in the draw by Mark Joyce.
