Rožnov pod Radhoštěm Town Council Approves 36 Million CZK Purchase of Central Post Office Site
The Rožnov pod Radhoštěm town council voted in late June to buy the former post‑office complex on Míru Square for 36 million Czech crowns. The acquisition includes the main building, an adjacent structure with service facilities, a garage and surrounding parcels previously owned by the state postal operator Česká pošta.
The council will commission a feasibility study to determine the future use of the site. Options under discussion include converting the renovated building into more than 30 residential units for families, seniors or professionals, as well as creating municipal service spaces, storage or parking for technical equipment. Postal operations are expected to remain in the premises for at least two to three more years before moving to new facilities on 1 May Street.
Mayor Jan Kučera and spokesperson Adéla Kousalová emphasized that the purchase provides a unique opportunity to develop a key central area of the town, but the final decision on the site's function will be made after the study’s results are reviewed.
