Roof 68 restaurant fire engulfs Split's Riva

A fire broke out around 21:20 on 31 July 2026 at the Roof 68 restaurant on the Riva promenade in Split, Croatia. Smoke quickly spread over the waterfront, prompting panic among residents and visitors.

The blaze originated in the kitchen. The Split Public Fire Department responded with five fire engines and 14 firefighters, joined by three volunteers from DVD Split, bringing the total to six vehicles and 17 firefighters. The fire was brought under control and the site is now being cleared. No injuries have been confirmed and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Roof 68 issued a statement on social media saying all guests are safe and that reservations will be transferred to its sister venues in the city centre and on Žnjan beach.
