RoPay and Moldindconbank introduce instant mobile payment features
New instant payment functionalities are being introduced in Romania and Moldova via mobile banking applications.
In Romania, the RoPay system allows individuals to make instant transfers between different participating banks without manually entering IBANs. Users can complete transactions using QR codes, phone numbers, or NFC technology. The service is free for individuals and can be used for peer-to-peer transfers, bill payments, and shopping, provided the bank or merchant supports the option.
In Moldova, Moldindconbank has introduced a feature allowing businesses to conduct B2B payments by scanning a QR code. These transfers, authorized via Mobile MICB Business, ensure funds reach the supplier's account immediately, including during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Additionally, the maib application has launched an ‘Split the Bill’ feature, enabling users to divide transaction costs among group members and track repayments.
