Roque Lucero detained in Argentina over sexual abuse allegations

Roque Lucero, the paternal grandfather of missing child Guadalupe Lucero, has been detained by provincial authorities in San Luis, Argentina. The arrest follows two separate investigations into alleged sexual abuse involving minors.

The first case involves a complaint filed in November 2024 regarding an incident with a neighbor who has a disability. Lucero was previously charged in April with serious sexual abuse after the victim provided testimony via a Gesell chamber. The second investigation concerns allegations of repeated sexual abuse against another minor with whom the man reportedly had a family connection.

The detention has intensified scrutiny regarding the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Guadalupe Lucero, who vanished on June 14, 2021, at the age of five. The maternal family of the missing girl has formally requested that federal authorities investigate whether Roque Lucero’s alleged history of abuse should be integrated into the disappearance case.
