Roquetas de Mar receives 2.5 million euros for tourism modernization

The Spanish Government has allocated 2.5 million euros to Roquetas de Mar to modernize its tourism model through the Next Generation European funds. This investment is part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, specifically targeting sustainability, innovation, and the improvement of public spaces.

Key projects under the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan include the purchase of an electric tourist bus costing approximately 500,000 euros, the implementation of intelligent beach parking management systems, and the installation of recycling points. Other initiatives involve circular economy awareness campaigns, accessibility improvements, and the creation of new shade zones on land and in water.

Senator Antonio Martínez noted that these actions aim to make Roquetas de Mar a more competitive and sustainable destination. Additionally, the Ministry of Industry and Tourism has allocated over 36 million euros to various tourism investment projects throughout the province of Almería.
