Rory Sabbatini leads Boeing Classic after bogey-free 65

Rory Sabbatini holds the first-round lead at the Boeing Classic in Snoqualmie, Washington, after shooting a bogey-free 65. The 7-under-par performance puts the Slovakian golfer in a strong position for his first win on the PGA Tour Champions circuit.

Sabbatini leads Jerry Kelly and New Zealand’s Steven Alker by two strokes after the opening 18 holes at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge. Sabbatini noted the importance of precision due to the tricky greens and deep bunkering on the course.

Other notable performers included 2017 champion Jerry Kelly, who carded six birdies and one bogey, and Steven Alker, who matched Sabbatini’s seven birdies but fell behind due to two bogeys. Several players, including Steve Flesch and Stewart Cink, shared fourth place at 4-under 68.
