Rosa Peral graduates in Law while serving murder sentence
Rosa Peral, a former Barcelona Guardia Urbana officer sentenced to 25 years in 2020 for the murder of her partner, has graduated with a law degree while serving her sentence.
Peral, who has spent nine years in prison and has been transferred between six different facilities due to behavioral issues, is reportedly seeking to register with the bar. Her goal is to practice law from within the prison, potentially assisting with penitentiary matters, such as drafting requests for permits or transfers.
However, legal experts note significant obstacles. Under current statutes, practicing lawyers must not have a criminal record. Consequently, Peral may not be able to officially practice law until she has completed her sentence and cleared her record, which could be around age 70. Additionally, she has expressed interest in pursuing a degree in psychology.
