Rosalía's SNL performance sparks ballet expert debate

During a performance of “Reliquia” on Saturday Night Live, singer Rosalía appeared to stand en pointe for nearly four minutes while singing. This feat has led ballet professionals to speculate that theatrical assistance or a hidden support structure may have been used.

Leo Sorribes, director of Ballet de Catalunya, noted that it is nearly impossible to remain perfectly still without swaying while on pointe. Chase Johnsey, artistic director of Ballet de Barcelona, suggested the singer might have been supported by a stool-like structure. Similarly, ballet instructor David Campos expressed skepticism regarding the lack of movement.

Despite the technical doubts, dance experts largely praised the performance. They noted that Rosalía possesses significant talent and emphasized that her performance brings valuable visibility to the art of ballet.
