Rosalía faces security‑tightened Argentine tour amid controversy over anti‑Argentina post

Spanish singer Rosalía reposted a video of influencer Mia Khalifa celebrating Spain’s victory over Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final. The post was interpreted as mocking the Argentine national team, sparking a backlash on social media, calls for ticket refunds and widespread criticism. Rosalía later apologized, saying she had shared the clip for the song "La Perla" and had not read the accompanying text.

Argentina’s foreign minister Pablo Quirno said the artist withdrew the post because it “hurt her pocket”. Journalist Alejandro Fantino publicly demanded the cancellation of Rosalía’s Buenos Aires shows, urging producer Diego Finkelstein to act. Despite the controversy, the four concerts scheduled for 1, 2, 4 and 6 August at the Movistar Arena remain on the calendar.

Rosalía arrived in Buenos Aires on a private jet from Chile in the early hours of 30 July, escorted by a heavy security operation that included police motorcycles, black SUVs and a cordon at Ezeiza airport. She was taken to the Four Seasons hotel with her partner Loli Bahía and a small entourage, and avoided press interaction. The tour also featured a “confessional” segment in Chile where guest Princess Alba (Trinidad Riveros) shared a personal story.

The artist’s team maintains that the shows will proceed as planned, while the incident continues to generate political commentary and social‑media debate in Argentina.
