Rosamel Fierro Huenuman arrested for 2021 armed robbery in Chile

Rosamel Fierro Huenuman, a fugitive since December 2021, has been placed in preventive detention following his arrest in the La Araucanía region of Chile.

Fierro Huenuman was apprehended by the PDI in Carahue and faces charges including armed robbery with violence and intimidation, simple damages, and drug cultivation. The charges stem from a March 2021 incident at the Aguas Blancas estate, where armed individuals intercepted a vehicle, forced forestry workers to their knees, and fired shots near their heads to intimidate them.

A judge ordered preventive detention due to the risk of flight, noting the defendant's history of evasion. He has been transferred to the Temuco Preventive Detention Center and will eventually be moved to the Mapuche community module at the Angol prison.
