Rosario Mazzola: The life of a Sicilian bishop and community leader

Rosario Mazzola, a prominent religious figure in Sicily, is remembered for his life and service spanning nearly a century. Born in Palermo in 1924, Mazzola grew up in a city heavily impacted by the bombings of World War II.

Ordained as a priest in 1950, he served as the parish priest of Villaggio Ruffini, where he established the parish as a center for social, cultural, and educational assistance for families displaced by the war. His ecclesiastical career progressed significantly in 1982 when he was ordained as a bishop and served as an auxiliary of Palermo, eventually leading the diocese of Cefalù.
