Rosario midwife charged with selling babies between 1968 and 1980

An 88-year-old former midwife, identified as D. E. V., has been charged by federal prosecutors in Rosario, Argentina, for allegedly separating newborns from their biological mothers and selling them for money between 1968 and 1980.

The investigation, led by federal prosecutor Soledad García, began following a 2012 report from a woman who discovered through biological testing that her birth records were falsified. The prosecution alleges the midwife worked at the Hospital Roque Sáenz Peña and systematically engaged in the suppression of identity and the alteration of civil status.

Currently, seven victims have been identified in the case. Due to the suspected decade-long duration of these activities, the Federal Prosecutor's Office has issued a public appeal for anyone born during that period who has doubts regarding their biological origins or identity to come forward and provide information to the authorities.
