Rosario municipal delay stalls Social Sports Fee for youth clubs

The Rosario city council approved an ordinance in December to create a Social Sports Fee that would help families pay club memberships for children aged 6 to 16. Councilor Mariano Romero says the rule was passed but the mayor has taken no action, leaving neighborhood clubs to cover the costs themselves. He quoted the ordinance: "La norma fue aprobada por el Concejo en diciembre de año pasado pero el intendente todavía no hizo nada al respecto."

The program mirrors the now‑defunct national "Hay Equipo" scheme discontinued in 2024 and is slated to run a pilot for the first year, prioritising former Hay Equipo beneficiaries. Article 4 of the ordinance requires the municipal executive department to define how many clubs and families can participate, a decision that has not yet been made seven months after the law’s publication.
