Rosario Municipality recovers 807 hectares of Paraná Delta wetlands

The Municipality of Rosario has taken possession of 807 hectares of wetlands in the Legado Deliot area, located in the Paraná Delta. This recovery follows more than 20 years of legal disputes with a local rancher who occupied the territory.

The land, situated on Charigüé Island, was originally part of a 1,764-hectare donation made to the city by philanthropist Carlos Deliot in 1948. Although the area is administratively part of the Entre Ríos province, the municipality has secured access to the site to begin environmental surveys and conservation efforts.

Sebastian Chale, the Secretary of Government for Rosario, stated that the area is equivalent to 10% of the city's urban surface and is roughly six and a half times the size of Parque Independencia. The municipality plans to integrate these lands into the Los Tres Cerros Municipal Reserve and is evaluating the installation of a permanent base to prevent and combat island fires. Future actions will focus on sustainable use and necessary access infrastructure, with planning expected to begin next year.
