Santa Cruz police seize large cash sum from ambulance linked to Roger Mariaca

Bolivian police intercepted an ambulance in Santa Cruz containing a large sum of cash, leading to the arrest of ten individuals. The vehicle had reportedly entered a condominium in the north of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, identified as the residence of Attorney General Roger Mariaca.

Authorities seized 3,532,100 Bolivianos and 10,000 US dollars from the vehicle. According to police reports, the ambulance entered the residential area under the pretext of providing medical assistance, but was allegedly used to transport money hidden in various compartments.

The operation was interrupted when the intended recipient of the funds noticed police activity. Among those detained are four occupants of the ambulance, including a minor, as well as six other individuals linked to Mariaca’s environment, including a systems analyst and a surveillance technician. The Public Ministry is investigating the origin and legal status of the seized funds.
