Argentina reports mixed tourism and government confidence trends
In September 2026, Argentina saw a 15.3% increase in international tourist arrivals, totaling 432,200 non-resident visitors. However, the country maintained a negative tourism balance as 613,100 residents traveled abroad, a 13.2% decrease from the previous year. Brazil remains the primary source of incoming tourists and the top destination for Argentines traveling overseas.
In Rosario, a surge of over 120,000 visitors occurred between October 19 and 25, driven by the Festival Bandera, Turismo Carretera, and various academic and professional congresses. This activity resulted in a 97% hotel occupancy peak during the weekend and an estimated economic impact exceeding 11.4 billion pesos.
Regarding political sentiment, the Government Confidence Index (ICG) reported a slight monthly increase of 0.9% in October, reaching 1.95 points. Despite this marginal recovery, the index reflects a 7% year-on-year decline and a 20.7% drop since late 2025. While the administration of Javier Milei shows improvements in areas such as problem-solving capacity and efficiency, it has seen a decrease in perceived honesty.
