Rosarito landfill search uncovers human remains

Search collectives ‘Buscando A Tolano’ and ‘Ponte en mis botas’ discovered two sets of human remains at the municipal landfill in Rosarito, Mexico.

Members of the collectives reported significant difficulties during the search, including working under intense sun and foul odors while garbage trucks continued to dump waste, potentially compromising evidence. Bárbara Martínez, president of ‘Buscando A Tolano’, criticized the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) for imposing delays and restricting press access, while alleging that personnel remained in air-conditioned vehicles rather than assisting in the search.

Activists have called for the temporary closure of the landfill to protect potential evidence, noting that anonymous tips suggest the site may be used by organized crime to dispose of victims.
