Rosarito merchants demand beach access during Baja Beach Fest
Local business owners in the Barbachano district of Rosarito, Mexico, have asked municipal authorities to keep at least one road open to the beach while the Baja Beach Fest is underway. The annual festival brings tourists to the area, but the closure of streets that run alongside the shoreline prevents customers from reaching cafés, bars and other beach‑side shops.
One merchant said, “Cada año a nosotros nos afecta, porque cierran el acceso a las calles de la Barbachano y los clientes no pueden llegar a nuestros negocios.” They suggested that a parallel street near Boulevard Juárez remain open, allowing traffic to reach the businesses while only the streets directly adjacent to the sand are closed.
