Rosatom negotiates Akkuyu stake sale and resumes Bushehr deployment

The Russian state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom is undertaking significant operational shifts at its international nuclear projects. In Turkey, Rosatom is reportedly in talks to sell its 49% stake in the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in Mersin. An unnamed official confirmed to Izvestia that the company is considering selling the stake to a single company or a package of multiple entities. The Akkuyu project, which aims to meet approximately 10% of Turkey's electricity needs, has an estimated cost of $25 billion.

Simultaneously, Rosatom is resuming personnel deployment at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in Iran. Rosatom CEO Aleksey Likhachev announced that an initial group of engineers has returned to the site, bringing the total number of Russian personnel at the facility to 25. If regional tensions do not escalate, the company plans to increase the staff to 100 by autumn, following a previous evacuation of workers due to attacks on the plant.
