Rosaviatsia extends Sukhoi Superjet 100 service life to 20 years
The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) has approved an extension to the service life of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) fleet. The maximum permitted lifespan has been increased from 15 to 20 calendar years.
In addition to the calendar extension, the operational limits have been raised from 15,000 to 20,000 flights and from 25,000 to 40,000 flight hours. This decision specifically applies to aircraft equipped with SaM146 engines, including the long-range RRJ-95B-100/LR-100 variants.
The extension follows technical calculations, full-scale structural tests, and operational experience evaluations regarding structural integrity, fatigue life, and corrosion. According to Rostec, approximately 154 SSJ100 aircraft are currently in operation in Russia. This move provides additional operational flexibility while Russia continues the development of the SJ-100, a version designed to utilize domestic components to replace foreign parts.
