Roseanne Barr discusses new sitcom and responds to Chuck Lorre

Roseanne Barr is planning a television comeback with an independently produced single-camera sitcom titled ‘Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable’. Loosely based on her life in Texas Hill Country, the series follows a mixed-race family facing legal troubles while raising funds for a granddaughter’s bat mitzvah. Barr noted that the project has served as a form of “healing,” particularly regarding her experiences working with Black actors following her 2018 firing from ABC over controversial social media posts.

Additionally, Barr addressed claims made in producer Chuck Lorre’s memoir, ‘Sitcom’. Lorre alleged that the set of the original ‘Roseanne’ series was a toxic environment where writers were forced to ghostwrite scripts for Barr’s ex-husband, Tom Arnold. While Arnold has denied these allegations, Barr stated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that “Tom Arnold is telling the truth for once,” marking a rare moment of alignment between the former couple.
