Roseanne Barr says John Goodman declined cameo in new sitcom

Roseanne Barr has revealed that John Goodman declined a cameo in her new self-financed sitcom, ‘Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable’. Barr stated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that Goodman does not wish to work with her, noting that even after her son reached out to him, the request was refused. This follows a long-standing distance between the former ‘Roseanne’ co-stars; Goodman previously indicated he had not spoken to Barr in several years.

Separately, the television industry marks the 38th anniversary of the original premiere of ‘Roseanne’ on ABC, which debuted on October 18, 1988. The sitcom was noted for its authentic portrayal of working-class life and tackled social issues such as poverty and unemployment. While the original series ran until 1997, a 2018 revival led to Barr’s departure following controversial social media posts, resulting in the franchise continuing as ‘The Conners’ without her.
