Australian horse racing features major upcoming stakes races

Several major horse racing events are scheduled across Australia for early October 2026.

At Rosehill, trainer David Payne enters Persian Wonder and Proxima Dea into the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes, with the latter aiming for the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes and the Oaks. Meanwhile, Tom Charlton and co-trainer John O’Shea are preparing Satono Glow for the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes at Rosehill, viewing it as a stepping stone toward the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington.

Other notable upcoming races include the Port Macquarie Cup (also referred to as the Hastings Cup), a 1500m race featuring a field including General Soho and Casino Bear. At Caulfield, the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes will feature a field led by Jigsaw and Rey Magnerio.
