Rosemary Hill & Hillgrove horticultural operation in Queensland

Rosemary Hill & Hillgrove is a 558-hectare (1,379-acre) diversified horticultural operation located in the Granite Belt region of Queensland, Australia. Owned by Duncan and Angus Ferrier, the business consists of two contiguous properties: Rosemary Hill (430ha) and Hillgrove (128ha).

The operation includes a 10-hectare plum orchard and 25 hectares of irrigated land featuring decomposed granite-based dense loams, alongside granite/traprock grazing country. Historically, the property has produced wine grapes, early-season stonefruit, capsicums, tomatoes, and fresh cut flowers. An additional 15 hectares have been identified as suitable for future horticultural use.

Water security is supported by four licensed irrigation dams with a combined storage capacity of approximately 343 megalitres. Total water resources include a 100-megalitre allocation, a 165ML annual notified works entitlement, and a 31ML groundwater allocation. The irrigation infrastructure utilizes 100mm and 75mm PVC mains for vegetable plantings and orchard drip irrigation.
