Rosenheim Health Department joins Bavarian HIV testing weeks

The Rosenheim State Health Department is participating in the statewide HIV testing weeks organized by the Bavarian Ministry of Health. Running from November 2 to November 30, the initiative offers free, anonymous, and confidential HIV testing and medical counseling.

In Rosenheim, testing and consultations are available at the health department on Prinzregentenstraße 19 every Tuesday and Thursday, from 8:30 to 11:00 and 14:00 to 15:00, without prior appointment. Dr. Wolfgang Hierl, head of the Rosenheim Health Department, emphasized that early detection is critical, as modern treatments can suppress the virus to the point where it is no longer transmissible.

According to estimates from the Robert Koch Institute, approximately 97,700 people were living with HIV in Germany at the end of 2023. In 2024, an estimated 2,300 new infections occurred. Currently, about 92 percent of people living with HIV in Germany are aware of their status, falling short of the international target of 95 percent.
