Rosenheim region sees transit growth and rail upgrades
Public transportation services in the Rosenheim region are seeing significant developments. The MVV express bus line X380, known as the ‘Alpenbus’, has reported high popularity since its introduction. Data shows that passenger numbers are steadily increasing, particularly on the Au bei Bad Aibling-Rosenheim route, which sees double the occupancy of other sections. The service is widely used by hikers, commuters, and shoppers due to its reliable connections to the Alps and various train lines.
Simultaneously, a major overhaul is planned for the Meridian train fleet. Starting in December, 35 FLIRT3 trainsets will undergo a comprehensive redesign at a facility in Aachen managed by Talbot Services GmbH. The project, commissioned by Alpha Trains, includes renewing the interior—such as seats, tables, and toilets—and updating the exterior paint and pictograms. A new sealing will also be applied to improve graffiti protection. Additionally, the trains heading toward Kufstein will be equipped with the new ETCS technical system.
