Rosignano and Marano upgrade lighting and CCTV to improve safety

Mayor Claudio Marabotti of Rosignano Marittimo reported that a new illumination system installed in the Pineta Marradi forest has markedly reduced safety problems and attracted more families and young people to the area. The lighting project, part of a broader effort that also includes cracking down on illegal camping and revitalising the Rosignano Solvay waterfront, is being considered for replication on the Vada seafront.

In the nearby town of Marano, an extraordinary municipal commission has created a task force to oversee a city‑wide video‑surveillance scheme. The plan will deploy 120 new cameras linked to a single, modern control room and will be managed by specially trained local police officers. Officials say the system will strengthen territorial control, deter crime and protect the town’s cultural and economic assets.
